Safe biking habits instilled by Flex Guiders

Knowing when and how to break your fall is critical but here's the catch, traditional training methods don't teach this.

Training wheels - When you learn with traditional training wheels, the rigid support they offer becomes an engrained dependency.  That means when you finally do make the switch, the first thing your child looks for when something goes wrong is support (that they no longer have).  So what do they do as they are about to take a header?  They cling to their bikes, which as you can imagine, makes the fall 10 times harder.

The balance bike - while leagues better than traditional training wheels still is a far cry from teaching safe habits.  Here the crutch is their feet on the ground.  Kids used to putting their feet on the ground for every change in speed frequently find themselves running over the backs of their legs with the pedals every time they want to slow down leaving painful scrapes and bruises on a sensitive area

Falling (in slow motion) with Flex Guiders - With Flex Guiders your child is able to experience the full range of motion they would on a regular bike.  At the same time they receive the right amount of support so they can practice pedaling, turning and balance.  As they are learning balance and getting a feel for their bike, they may at some point turn to quickly or lean too much which could lead to a fall.  With Flex Guiders, this is actually a good thing.  The elastic support provided to the rider drastically slows their fall (super helpful for kids who get scared), giving them ample time to prepare.  This allows them to learn 1. not to become dependent on support and 2. how to stick their leg out to catch their balance.
